In the Pennant Race
The season is going great and it is definitely a good experience to be in the pennant race. This is my first season starting and being in this situation. It has been a good pressure though, since each game plays an important role in the standings.

I was supposed to write about my signing experience, but I just have to tell you of the experience of being a part of the no-hitter our club pitched against the Yankees. It was awesome.

Well, as I had written last month, I was hoping to be coming to you from Houston---and I am. While it was a shock regarding the situation with Julio Lugo; I am glad to be back in the major leagues. I look to make the most of my opportunity.

Fit and Ready for 2003
After finishing the 2002 season with the Astros, I was determined to work hard on my game this offseason. I did not play winter ball which was a big help for me in resting and relaxing.

Tough Luck
This has been a very interesting past few weeks. It hasn't been the easiest for me since I got sent down. I had a tough time getting into a groove and I've felt a little rusty.

Everything Happens for a Reason
Spring training was everything I wanted it to be. It turned out great--I won the starting shortstop job. I was the opening day starting shortstop for the 2002 Houston Astros. No one will ever be able to take that away from me. I was on such a high coming out of camp getting an opportunity to be a big league shortstop.

The Rat
Well, I got that corrected and was swinging the bat really well. Gary Geatti, our hitting coach in New Orleans, is terrific. He is by far one of the best instructors in baseball I have ever had the privilege of working with.

A Kid's Game
Preparing for spring training was a little different for me this year. I came into camp in the best shape I have ever been in. I went to Venezuela this off-season for some extra at-bats. All in all it was a great off-season for me.
