The Bus Breakdown

Since I’m always writing about the games and how the season is going I thought I’d change it up this time and talk about where I am right now, the bus.  We’re heading back from Birmingham where dropped 2 of 3.  One series left before the playoffs start.  I’m looking around and I couldn’t picture a more perfect minor league scene.  Up front the coaches are sitting, talking about the game, doing their post game reports.  Next comes the strength coach and the radio guy.  In our case Radio Ron is his name and he’s locked in on the feature presentation, Varsity Blues.  I’m pretty sure he’s the only one watching it yet the volume remains somewhere between loud and blaring.  Ask any minor league guy and they will tell you the same, “turn the volume down!!”

On our bus the middle section is occupied by the readers and computer users.  It should be noted that my buddy Matt Craig is currently watching #3 of a 6 disc set of “The O.C.”.  He will finish every episode all the while wishing he was “chillin on the beach rather that grinding it out” with me on this bus.

The back of the bus is divided into Atlantic City and the United Nations.  I’m not sure if I can say what the buy in price is for the Texas Hold ‘Em game going on but somebody is going to be happy at the end.  That game should take about 2 hours of this 4 hour ride.  It’s 12:30 am by the way.  4 nationalities are represented in our UN.  Puerto Rico, Korea, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic.  Despite the language barrier you would assume to find, they are busy solving the worlds problems and keeping up foreign relations.  When I find out how they do it, I’ll let you know.  As for me, I’m going to read a little, listen to my iPod, and make a call or two.  I look forward to sharing the playoffs!

Take care
